I’m Teresa…Busy mum of 2, homemaker, wife, and fitness trainer/entrepreneur!

I’ve been in the Health and Fitness industry for over 25 years and during this time have travelled the world teaching classes and helping ladies get into shape. Back in the day you may have seen me on GMTV alongside Mr Motivator and on his bestselling Legs Bums and Tums DVD , with Joanna Hall in Drop a Dress Size DVD and even on location in Sydney Australia in the pioneering fitness TV show ‘Aerobics Oz Style’.

I started teaching fitness when I was 18 – (originally I came from a dance background.)..Mostly,  I worked in all the top fitness clubs in the City of London alongside some of the major players in the world of Aerobics.  I specialised in step and choreography classes and taught classes at fitness events during the weekends.  It was my life.

Then, about 16 years ago, a severe back problem  – something called spondelolysthesis – stopped me teaching my regular fitness classes. Back then most weeks I would teach up to 30 high impact classes a week – I know it’s bonkers but I was in my 20’s and thought I was invincible!

Every day I was in excruciating pain, I lived on painkillers and had weekly osteopathy and chiropractic treatments. Finally my osteopath told me I had to stop doing what I was doing, this was serious. I knew I just couldn’t go on, so I took some time out.
It was the year 2000 and I had just returned from working as crew on a yacht in the Caribbean. I couldn’t go back to teaching fitness although it was all i knew, so I embarked on my Pilates teacher training.

I decided to travel to the renowned Stott Studio in Toronto, Canada to do some intensive Matwork training. I came back ready for change and created a massive shift in my life. I started teaching Pilates and left fitness classes behind. My back grew stronger. I retrained with Polestar Pilates for my Studio (equipment) work and started training clients on the reformer. Pilates took over my life and soon I was tutoring Pilates Matwork Certification courses and assessing instructors up and down the country. I didn’t think I’d ever go back to fitness, but I did – all because I realised that we need not only flexibility in our spines, but a healthy heart and lungs too.

After having children, I trained in Piloxing – it was an excellent way to get cardio back into a Pilates based workout. It was fun, loud, punchy but most of it was Pilates based – so, technical at the same time. I loved it!  It was that crazy combination of boxing with the core element of control which Pilates is all about. It was about boxing with control not just throwing air punches. I became a master at my trade and certified as London’s only Elite Star Piloxing Instructor.

I started doing HIIT training for myself and then added classes here and there to my timetable. HIIT works and over the last few years it has completely revolutionised the fitness industry. It’s THE best way to get results in super quick time…and I honestly don’t think I could live without it! (although I wish I’d have known what I know now when I was in my 20’s teaching all those classes!!)

Times change and fitness trends and crazes come and go but my continuing education never stops.  I am fully qualified in Post Natal Wellness and Breast Cancer Rehab and my training in mayofascial release through movement continues.
